CAMPUS CONNECTION

Campus Connection, Detroit Mercy’s weekly campus newsletter, evolved and expanded in a number of ways over my career. Communications originally began each week with a short summary of upcoming events, presentations, and announcements. As we saw a continued influx of campus activity, a departmental decision was made to transform CC into a daily blog. I curated each story, wrote and edited exclusive promotions with complementary digital assets, designed the full user experience top to bottom, and established a recognizable identity for students and faculty alike.

HOMECOMING

Despite not having a football team, Detroit Mercy celebrated a return to fall festivities in the form of Homecoming during my time. I developed the brand and identity for the weekend of activities as well as the identity of the annual Detroit Decades Dash 5K on campus.

DETROIT MERCY UNDERWORLD

Equal parts haunted and historical, Detroit Mercy Underworld is an underground tour of the maintenance tunnels that connect the various buildings across University of Detroit Mercy’s McNichols Campus. I wanted to create a unique experience exclusive for seniors that gave back to their University. Partnering with Annual Giving, we managed bimonthly tour schedules that boasted a 20-minute, mostly-factual “skip through the crypts,” a t-shirt of my own design, and a chance to leave their mark on campus by signing the concrete walls. Additionally, I wrote the spiel and led the majority of tours.

To enhance the “rumored nature” of these exclusive tours, I hid an easter egg on the University’s website for students to discover the page. Hint – The tower is the key.
